Jason Aldean's song "Try That in a Small Town" NOT Racist

I trust you are not stupid.

I’m not playing your game.

Don’t buy his stuff. Easy easy.

I didn’t mean to imply you were calling it racist. Just pointing out that this situation doesn’t need to even arise to the level of coincidence or happenstance, some will find a way to impose it regardless.

There is literally no contradiction in my position, but I can see you’re already in punt formation.

Yup, agreed.

I don’t think the song itself is racist - just kinda pathetic and dumb.

But I have no doubt that racists will love it.

Jason Aldean is not the songwriter for this, just covering the song.

The actual songwriters are Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, Kelley Lovelace and Neil Thrasher. Don’t know much about them.

I don’t believe that Jason Aldean has a writing credit for any of his “hit songs.”

Yes, they are all a bunch of frauds.

This is my stance, although I am super curious if he knew he filmed on a famous lynching location.

I doubt it. I expect his involvement in the video was the same as his involvement in the song itself - someone else did the hard parts for him.

Jason Aldean is an idiot, but calling that song racist is a stretch.

It’s your run of the mill pop-country song that sucks. Nothing more. Nothing less. I’m just surprised a dog didn’t die and there wasn’t a Chevrolet truck mentioned.

Do any pop country “artists” actually write their own music?

Last time country was good was during the late 70s. When guys like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings were at their height.

I can’t say I listen to much contemporary country music.

But even Taylor Swift writes at least part of her songs.

I’ll turn on “modern country” on Apple Music once in a while just to see if it’s gotten any better.

And I’m always left unsurprised. It’s trash. All they talk about is mud riding, broken Chevrolet trucks with lift kits, maybe a wife left, etc.

I miss classic country music. Country and Western specifically. When it was deep and had emotion and the lyrics were actually smartly written. Like old Johnny Cash tracks. They used to tell stories in country music. All that’s out the window now.

And I’m an equal opportunity hater. Modern Rap and hip hop is trash now too.

Only decent genres in my opinion in the modern era is Metal and Hard Rock. And modern Blues and Americana. Those are still doing pretty well.

I don’t disagree, for the most part.

I believe Bocephus (and his daddy) wrote all their own songs.

Just for the record, it appears Jason Aldean only has songwriter or cowriter credit for a total of four tracks out of his ten albums.

And I bet every single one them had a broken down Polaris side by side in them.
