Janet Yellen says rising deficits are unsustainable and would cut benefits and raise taxes

Exactly right. I still am amazed at how many Trumplovers claim he’s a great business man. Given everything, grifted working men along the way, squelched on debts by claiming bankruptcy multiple times.

And you’re right. When he’s done here, he’ll make even more. After he bankrupts us, of course.

I disagree with adroit and zantax. That’s a first.

i think the reason Obama was working on reducing the deficit while Trump is exploding it is because Obama didn’t grow up making $250,000 per year at 3 years of age. Trump never had to struggle. he doesn’t understand the value of money.

Not a great business man. Pretty good at branding and of course, he has the stellar accomplishment of becoming President, which supporters of Obama assured us was all that was necessary in the accomplishment department to make someone worthy of being President.

Hilarious., Obama working to reduce the deficit, what made you think that? His outlandish requests for unprecedented spending that was denied by a republican congress?

It’s all going to have be gone through and cut at some point. Plus defense spending. No more sacred cows.

But I agree. Medicare and SS should be cut last on the entitlement side.

And we (millennials) won’t see much of anything at all. Most of us are going to work till we drop.

And the following generation will be royally ■■■■■■■

That sadly is true.

Simpson and Bowles said the exact thing 10 trillion dollars ago and they were quietly swept under the rug.

Basically I’m hoping that I either stay healthy my entire life or that I croak early in the most painless way possible.

In all seriousness though, I’m doing my best to prepare. But it’s going to be rough for us.

Yeah. I apologize that my generation was never able to be politically effective enough to do anything about anything really.

You can always take the escape hatch to Thailand, Costa Rica, Belize, or a variety of other fun places with a lower cost of living.

Not like we’re any better.

Millennials are not politically savvy. We tend to just try to shout down opposition to our views with ill thought out platitudes.

There’s nothing worse to watch than right-wing and left-wing millennials try to debate. It’s bascially the Jacobins and the Girondists.

Hopefully it ends better than that.

Eh maybe. Vietnam is absolutely gorgeous but considering how fast that country is advancing the cost of living is going to be Japan high by the time I retire.

But honestly, I love my state and I love the Deep South. I’m going to stay and be buried here.

Most people my age here want to leave but for some reason I’ve never had any desire.

Hopefully.

Fair enough. At some point, I think I’m going to take the escape hatch. I’d like to see something different for a while.

Nobody “assured” you of that.

Many of us have worked well over 40 hours per week for decades with a promise that our money we placed in a government coffer would be safe and returned to us later at a promised time. This isn’t an entitlement. If one remembers when the government began dipping into it, they said it was being replaced with an IOU. It’s a debt that the government promised to pay back and “we” trusted them.

There’s still time to fix this in a way that only lightly burdens the part of the population that deals in rounding errors bigger than SS checks.

This is just clever propaganda from the top: to get us to believe we’re already at the point where the middle class and upper class have to feel the bite as well as the top class. I don’t buy it.
