Interesting. He didn’t leave the FBI when Trump was elected. He willingly continued in the FBI. Or did someone force him to stay?

I worry that if Trump resigns or is quickly removed from office, he will become a martyr. If he leaves too soon, it will be easy for his supporters to cling to deep state conspiracy theories for the rest of their lives. They will insist that “Trump was too effective at the economy and the socialist deep state didn’t like that,” or “We were MAGA-ing so hard and draining the swamp so effectively that the swamp crushed noble Lord Trump while it could.”

As you say, “Trumpism has to be buried in such a way that it never rears it’s ugly head again.” That means his supporters will have to accept that they nominated and elected a man that didn’t deserve their vote. I’m not sure how we get to that point.

I’m hoping that MAGA-whisperer like Sarah Sanders or Sean Hannity jumps ship and explains to conservatives that they were duped by a con man who was not qualified or capable to be President. I don’t really expect that to happen, but it would go a long way towards helping the nation move forward.
