Yeah, this Minnesota project sounds like a winner: The Biden administration said Wednesday that it had canceled two mining leases that would have allowed a copper mine to be built near an area of pristine wilderness in Minnesota.
The Interior Department said it had determined that the leases, held by Twin Metals Minnesota, a subsidiary of the Chilean mining conglomerate Antofagasta, were improperly reinstated by the Trump administration in 2019.
Well what do you know? The billionaire Andrónico Luksic, whose family controls Antofagasta, also rented a $5.5 million house in Washington to Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former president Donald J. Trump,
Those dubious connections notwithstanding, I find it funny that the same people who want us to emulate China and other countries when it comes to environmentally regulating mining and other things like burning coal also post pictures of China’s and others’ massively environmentally scarring mines and operations when arguing against electric cars?
It’s sad whoever is running the Biden admin is lowering the price of gas by buying oil from the leftist dictators in Venezuela instead of our domestic supply. How does that help democracy?
I have a cousin that lives in Pine County MN. He had a camp there then built a house after selling and leaving St. Paul. His nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away and their only concerns are bears, coyotes and an occasional wolf. He was a fire chief in St. Paul and a Medivac pilot. He and his wife raised 5 children there. He couldn’t wait to leave after retirement and did volunteer fire watch tower work in Pine County. He said years ago Twin Cities was a fabulous place. Now it’s a ■■■■ hole.
