Folks are still going to say this was a myth. I always ask, so was Lee Atwater lying when he described exactly what the GOP did when it came to swaying southern democrats to their side?
Now, they’re the same ones wanting to keep statues, symbols and names of traitors who waged war against the United States and killed hundred’s of thousands of Americans.

The first slaves were imported in 1619. About 240 years before a Republican Party.

Well those were southern democrats. Who today is fighting to preserve what southern democrats wanted sustain and grow? 2020 Republicans or 2020 democrats?

See above

So there were no democrats importing slaves after that??

You learn something new every day here at Hannity.

You really gotta wonder why it is only Republicans who are currently so invested in maintaining monuments to the aforementioned proponents of slavery? It’s kinda weird. Could it be? As we all learned in middle school civics - that political parties once based largely in regional politics have over time become more ideology driven?

Perhaps! Or maybe Trump is super upset about all these lib monuments being taken down!

The importation of slaves stopped in 1807… but you knew this, right? Maybe you actually did learn something today

i wonder if those talking about pelosis father wish to discuss trumps father being arrested at a KKK rally…

not just a statue. an entire town. forrest city arkansas

I’ve seen the date, but forgot exactly which year it was.

So you’re saying that democrats didn’t import slaves, they just perpetuated the institution and continued the trading internally before seceding to preserve it, which lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands.

Any Republicans do those things??

The Democratic Party didn’t exist until 1828. So no, Democrats didn’t import slaves.

The people in the Democratic Party did perpetuate slavery and attempt to fight to preserve it. But yet, 2020 republicans are fighting to preserve the confederacy. Weird huh?

Who is “fighting to preserve the confederacy”??

2020 Republicans

“fighting to preserve the confederacy”??

This is news to me.

Was obama/biden “preserving the confederacy” during their time in office??

Ignorance or avoidance of history, namely the transformation of major political party ideals, is never a valid justification. Although people keep on trying.

Blaming modern Democrats for stuff the Dixiecrats did is about as smart as blaming modern Republicans for the stuff they sell at Banana Republic.

Pro Tip: it’s not very smart

So you can’t name any either??

How’s that “shift in ideals” working out for you??

No, they weren’t defending confederate statues. Or the confederate flag.

Are you ready to smear the name of Thomas Jefferson, then? He founded what became the Democratic Party.

What about when obama attended the vance/aycock dinner??

Both of those guys were just voted out by the pelosi bunch.

You switched to “defending” now, but that’s okay.

Where was the mob then?? biden is one of the guys who was in office for 8 years. Now he’s your fearless leader of blm reckoning.

Not buying it.

Smear?? No.

We know who Jefferson was. I toured Monticello a few years ago. It was informative about all things Jefferson.

It’s our shared history. He can no longer hurt anyone.

You keep going further and further away from your OP. Why?

2020 democrats aren’t defending or fighting for confederacy. 2020 Republicans are.
