You really gotta wonder why it is only Republicans who are currently so invested in maintaining monuments to the aforementioned proponents of slavery? It’s kinda weird. Could it be? As we all learned in middle school civics - that political parties once based largely in regional politics have over time become more ideology driven?

The people in the Democratic Party did perpetuate slavery and attempt to fight to preserve it. But yet, 2020 republicans are fighting to preserve the confederacy. Weird huh?

I did. Democrats didn’t import slaves. Democrats didn’t exist until 1828. Which was 21 years after the country ended the importation of slaves.

Southern Democrats DID perpetuate and defend slavery. However 2020 Democrats are trying to remove confederacy propaganda from public spaces while 2020 Republicans are fighting to keep them.

That answered every single one of your questions.
