I seem to remember studying just how violent people were before firearms even existed.
Some folks are just violent. Either as a result of their own trauma or they are just wired weird. Either way it goes their violence will still exist regardless of what happens to guns.

An ax can be a tool of violence. Its sole design and purpose is not to kill, maim, destroy, or threaten violence. I use my ax to make firewood. It is difficult for me to make firewood by using a gun, because unlike an ax, a gun does not serve that purpose.
