You can count on the rest of the hostages not coming home alive in that case. If Hamas believes a ceasefire can’t be achieved, and the Israeli occupation/expanding settlements will continue, the hostages have no value. And there will never be peace in the region.
The Israelis have been occupying and bombing Gaza for decades. All with the support of the United States and European allies. At this point, with no hope of a ceasefire or return of occupied territory, there’s no point to negotiating a settlement or returning hostages. From Netanyahu’s perspective, facing criminal trial and mass protests, it doesn’t serve his political interest to negotiate anyway.

The only occupation of Gazan territory is the invasion forces of the IDF. Before the October 7th attack, Hamas controlled 100% of Gaza. And Israel is not holding hostages, they are holding criminal prisoners. Learn the difference.
