I lived there for 25 years and worked there for another 10, including dealing with Indians. Teribes, Kuna, several in Ecuador. Did a lot of soldiering in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

The American Indian is far better then that of the Latin American, they simply do not have the support and are at the absolute bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.

Tribes here have some autonomy, can invest in business and own lands is it perfect? no but its far better then anything an indigenous person receives in central and south america.
