I’d take it a step further, and argue that the parties are two sides of the same coin in this oligarchy. Some differences in policy and who they try to appeal to, but in the end both serve and are subject to the same monied interests.

On the face of it I can see why it seems so. The one thing to remember is each country will always act in what it perceives as its own best interest. Always. And their context is always different than ours.
They know we need them and vice versa.
