It is a mistake to underestimate these women.

Meh. Maybe you’re right but I’m highly skeptical. I see them as the outer fringe. Let’s see if they gain any prominence or political power in the next handful of years before concerning ourselves with their reach.

That’s an awful lot of assumptions you made there… based on what exactly? I don’t know how the illegal population is in your area, but where I’m at, they go out of their way to avoid ER visits… and reporting crimes, and signing up for any sort of assistance (public or private). When the schools shut down, we immediately began preparing and offering meals for these families because we knew they would be in need. At first, no one came… we quickly realized because we had asked for names and addresses so we could deliver portions of the meals. Didn’t even occur to us they were frightened by that. So, we stripped that requirement, and suddenly the meals were moving. These families are very afraid of having their info fall in the wrong hands and being reported for deportation. Fortunately, where I live, we value and treasure this community, illegal or not, but it’s a struggle to get them to accept that message.

Which folk we have quite a few of out here on the Left Coast. On the other hand we also have a lot of Black folk. The block I live on is comprised of about 70% black families, 28% Hispanic families, with My wife, son and myself and a family a few houses away way making up the 2% percent of White people. Never a hint of racial tension in the 18 years we’ve lived here. A friendly hood.
