oh yes it is

it’s only “woke” if a democrat is against it even if they did it

which proves “woke” is a “joke”

i hope thats where you were going with that

Being against wearing blackface today may be an example of appropriately woke. Trying to ban a beloved child’s book author who was born in 1904 in part for wearing blackface in high school which must have been around 1920 is an example of boringly, offensively woke.

Dr. Seuss’ racial history draws controversy - The San Diego Union-Tribune

Falling under the sway of wokeness. Not necessarily woke.

Wait what

Didn’t say that.

There are others.

Do you find these racist?

I’m just pointing out that blackface was once considered “woke” to people who thought it was silly that people are concerned with that.

Same thing with white people not using the N word

And on and on…

The whole anti woke movement is silly because if you aren’t racist THEN YOU ARE WOKE.

Yes you did say that.

And no, neither example is racist. Just like with RDJ did it in tropic thunder or when Chapelle did it.

You know the historical context of blackface. That is what I am talking and what you said wasn’t racist.

if someone did it nowadays it prob would be, but i wouldn’t make a big crying ■■■■■ deal out of seeing it from prior generations

but, i have an adult mind

A fair point that if you are going to complain about being “woke” you need to define what you mean by “woke”. I don’t think most people’s definition of the word would be “anything that isn’t racist”. I really don’t think that is what is being complained about. Indeed, the thread title uses the term “hyper-wokeness”.

No, I didn’t. I said it is Woke and I am not against it.

So blackface is racist, whiteface is not? Repressive tolerance.

Do I have a right to be racist if I choose to?

I agree to a point.

There are some movies that even at the time, they were racist (Birth of a nation comes to mind). Then there are movies like Gone with the wind that depicted blacks people a certain way that today seems racist but then probably not.

I love it. Classic Sneaky.

Why do you find trying to look like someone else “racist”. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

No. There is no such thing as a white person who is not racist - in Woke.

Gone With The Wind depicted black people as they were at that time in that place.

So you think it’s racist but you aren’t against it? Meaning someone who does it, should not face any consequences?

Depends on the context. RDJ in Tropic Thunder.

Stop it. This isn’t about legal rights. It’s about morals.

That’s exactly what I said.

What about Birth of a Nation?

I didn’t say anything about racist.

Black face and jive accent is not racist? How?

Moral consequences?

No, it isn’t.

Is not what you said. It wasn’t “a certain way”, it was the way they were - in that place at that time in those stations in life.

What about it?

I did.

Do you think it is racist? Yes or no?
