I disagree with this a bit.

We were not the first country to abolish slavery.
And it was white men who enslaved millions, and white men who killed americans to continue slavery.

Link?
We did create slavery in the US. We didnât inherit it.
We certainly didnât invent it, but thatâs not what Kain said.
We live in a strange world.

Yes, we have the laws. But today the discussion, beyond the slaver issue, isnât about laws. Todayâs discussion is about fairness, equity and equality.
As my gun rights friends say, âthere are plenty of laws on the books restricting the illegal use of firearmsâ. But it doesnât stop gun violence. Itâs similar but not directly on point with that. Laws have to be obeyed. Bias and discrimination are extremely subtle and nuanced. Very difficult to apply laws to.

Here is the exact quote.
Sen. Tim Kaine: âThe United States didnât inherit slavery from anybody. We created it.â
You are incorrect. Slavery did not begin in1776.
You know, you are not required by law to agree with every idiotic thing every democrat says. Right?

Did slavery begin prior to American revolution and Constitution or after?
I did not say we were the earliest to abolish slavery. But from the time the nation was created to the time slavery ended was 80 yearsâŚsooner ⌠soonest after their nation began enslaving. As has been pointed out, prior to the American revolution, it was Great Britain and others who enslaved or permitted slavery in the Americas.
Find another comparable nation.
You misread.

No where does he say we invented slavery.
We - as in the colonies that became the US - created slavery in our country.
That is what I meant. And what I assume Kaine meant, but hey, keep pretending he used words he didnât if it gives you pleasure.

There was a good thread on that, Conan. Check it out.
Which public school curriculum are you basing this assumption off of?

Prior. But it wanât inherited. It was created on our shores. In our colonies, that then became states.
Up there. Way on top.
And the word he used was âcreated.â
You crack me up.
Nothing is stupid enough for you not to defend it. As long as it was said by a lib.

I see - you meant âThe US had slavery for the shortest period of timeâ? Yes?
I donât believe colonists brought slaves with them to the US> Nor did they bring the practice of slavery. They created it once they arrived.

Yes. 80 years total. Do the math.

Create and invent do not mean the same thing.
You claimed he said invent. He did not.
Now, I donât know - and nor do you - exactly what he meant. And frankly, I donât care. But I know he did not claim the US INVENTED slavery.

Iâm thinking a lot of people in this thread donât realize slavery was illegal in England. The colonists didnât bring slavery with them.

So United state inherited slavery.
Who built the pyramidsâŚor great wall of China?
â â â â this conversation. You feel guilty? Wallow in it. My family had nothing to do with it and as I pointed out beforeâŚmy family were slaves even 50 years after the last American was freed. We got over it and moved on.
