Growing suburbs are shrinking rural areas. That trend has been going on for 70 years. Seattle is a perfect example of that.

You kinda need to be more specific.
There’s the liberalism of our founding and the continental liberalism of the French Revolution … they are very, very different.
From early so-called “progressives” to modern “liberals” they are in line with that other revolution rather than the American founding, with the desire for a “constitution” that only defines the departments of government by their responsibilities but leaves the means to achieve those ends entirely to the whims of politics and what seems popular at the time vs going further and enumerating the specific means by which those ends can be advanced and forbidding exceeding those Powers.
