SCOTUS ruled on this, as a condition of American citizenship.

Rights cannot protect possible futures, or outcomes. Than can only safeguard existing autonomies.
It may not be an American right, but in the Michigan constitution we have the right of free elementary and secondary education. One of the main reasons Republicans have not defunded our school system here is because they can’t.
BTW, we have charter schools in Michigan, and have NOT seen any educational benefits from them.

ACLU lost that court case, didn’t they?
(I am not making any arguments about charter schools.)

I know, you brought in “dis-leveling” and outcomes, not me.
“Autonomies” - I like it. Very Republic-ish.
Look I’m not against school choice, I am against the messaging.
School choice is not going to magically solve issues with poor school resources. In some areas, it will actually exacerbate those issues.
schools don’t have infinite resources. Typically bad schools are in poor neighborhoods. How many “suburban moms” will be happy with their good schools being over run with poor kids?

I just mean that any kind of skills training de-levels persons. If you, Hickock, my youngest and a person who never held a gun or worked on hand-eye coordination go to a range, your various types of training, practice and learned aptitude will create inequities of function.
Whether or not holding/possessing the weapon ought to be protected isn’t at issue. It is already ‘covered’ by a bodily autonomy. You have a right to the weapon whether or not you are a fool who will never use it well, or properly.
Education, I believe (obviously) is not covered by autonomy.

Of course it won’t. Who said it would. I don’t think the idea is to help with “poor school resources”. It’s not the parent’s job to “save the school!” The parent’s job is to get the best education for their children they possibly can.
Supposition.
Why?

+3 points for the Hickok reference.
I don’t disagree, with the caveat that function does not guarantee outcomes nor are we guaranteed them.
Why is education not covered by autonomy?
The current problem with our education model is the cookie cutter approach that pervades public education. EVERYONE has to learn ALL the same stuff no matter what their interests or abilities are. This irrational and coercive approach takes too long, costs too much and adds very little to a person’s practical ability in their professional life. More choices in education would allow parents and students the ability to find tailored programs to better suit their interests and abilities.

Yep, you are right. Sigh for activist courts repealing constitutional rights…
Well, history shows voting for democrats means a really expansive poor education… So, don’t be mean. See Cal or any big city they run.
It’s because they care more about the union than the children…
No, its not. There is no right to go to the school of your choice and have it funded by tax payers.
Is parent choice the biggest civil rights issue of our time?
Wanna take a guess around which region has the poorest education?
Is that based on cost of living?..
