It’s not a monopoly. Each school is different. Each district is different. Each state is different.

We have public schools, charter schools, private schools, home school etc.

I mean it’s no more a monopoly than the fire station or police department. They are all public services.

No you haven’t. At least not the version being proposed right now.

Kids have choice today. Inter-district transfers. They can go to a private school if they can afford it. Home school if they can afford it. Parents can move to homes in the district they prefer.

However most of the above options bias towards family’s with money. How does giving vouchers to low income families help them move to a different home? Go to a private school that’s 20k a year?

Taxes.

Actually I have. Had a child in it too.

They could afford it better with vouchers.

And families of 5,6, 8 kids in the same neighborhood could get together and hire a home school teacher for their little group. Get a really good education. This is the model for good, disciplined kids.

Afford it better with vouchers

Incorrect. You did not get a voucher

So you got your school choice?

Your kids can still go to that school.

That’s pretty selfish, given that you got your choice. Tsk, tsk.

I sent my son to a Magnet school. About a 20 minute drive but worth it.

Let the people who want to send their children wherever they want be the ones to worry about it. Where there is a will there is always a way.

Doesn’t mean they can afford it. A 20k a year school is not attainable for a low income family… even if you have them a 10k voucher.

However someone like me thanks you for the coupon. I can afford it without the discount.

Assuming private equity schools don’t increase the cost of tuition to voucher + current cost.

Yep. And everyone in the district got it as well. No voucher needed.

You are assuming and embarrassing yourself. How do you know I didn’t get a voucher?

You did that without a voucher, right?

I actually hope that starts happening on a large scale. On Monday parent X teaches subject Y. On Tuesday Parent Z teaches subject K, etc.

You would have already linked the voucher program you used. That’s how.

“In the district”. How many districts are there? How do you know what everyone else got?

Assuming. You don’t know anything about it. So I’ll educate you.

Didn’t need it. I didn’t have to pay for public school unless he attended public school.

The ‘voucher’ was the public school system. The choice to drive him for drop off and pick up to a better school was my choice. No school bus to take him back and forth.

It can be done. If a voucher is needed then I am all for it.

Edit to add:
If a parent cannot afford private school but gets a 15K voucher for a 20K tuition, I’m sure folks like you and those in the communities will put together scholarship programs for them to make up the difference, right?

There are 14,000 school districts in the US. Everybody get their choice?

Must keep control of the funds in the hands of Bureaucrats.
