I am witnessing this exact same problem with an employee right now. Bad parenting, excuses and enabling made their child pretty much into a sociopath. The boy was arrested today and honestly, he is so ruined I see nothing but prison for his future.

Just as a point of information, their are 24 cities in this country that are more bloodbathy than Chicago is. I wonder why conservatives started focusing on Chicago during the last administration.

That said, I do think that the lack of stable family structure is probably the #1 cause of a host of the problems that plague this country.

No. It isn’t sad. It is where, at this point he belongs.

The parent’s have been given every opportunity to correct themselves. Yet, they chose to enable him instead. The child (and parent’s) were given extensive counseling at taxpayer expense but they all still chose this path. I don’t buy that he is a victim of his parent’s bad choices.

He was shown and provided with the opportunity for a different way. He rejected it for the easy way out and can now and forever place the blame on his parents. Always a victim, always someone else’s fault. While he rots in prison.

I completely understand the 25 age for full formation. And thank you for saying you understand my frustration. Actually, it is my grief on behalf for someone that I’ve known for 25 years.

But, I think the point is… Parenting skills and instilling personal responsibility, morals and values in our children from a young age. That got lost somewhere and we need to get it back.

I 110% agree and believe that a financial bonus for the parent if the child performs academically will engage the parent/parents. That was the intent.
