No. The hate has always been there, but in hiding. Lee Atwater said it best,

You start out in 1954 by saying, “racist expletive x 3” By 1968 you can’t say “racist expletive”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “racist expletive x 2”.

Jim Crow is dead and the in your face racism went into hiding and was replaced by the ideology above. Born out of this was James Crow Esq., Jim Crow’s more sophisticated and elegant descendant. James Crow, Esq. is slick, he hides behind public policy while at the same time keeping a watchful eye to make sure, “those people”, are staying in their lane. James Crow Esq, is okay with, “those people”, working and making a living and being successful as long as it doesn’t disrupt his power and the access of resources. Dr. King once said in an interview a couple of years before his death, “True integration is the sharing or power, resources and responsibility”, and James Crow, Esq. understand this very well. Anyway, “those people”, worked hard and many had monumental successes in business, education, entertainment, sports, science, technology, government and even politics. Some even became Supreme Court Judges (See Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas), Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff (See Gen. Colin Powell, fellow Jamerican and my hero), and Secretary of State (see again Colin Powell and Dr. Condoleezza Rice), all applauded and supported by James Crow, Esq.

Along came Obama, a man of mix race heritage, but to those who didn’t know his background, just see a black man in politics who want to become president. James Crow, Esq. didn’t blink, and probably said, “that’s cute but he will never become president or even win the nomination”. Next Obama won the democrat nomination, then James Crow, Esq. paused and probably said, “surely this black man can’t win the General Election”. Finally, Obama win the General Election and becomes president of the most powerful country on the planet. James Crow Esq. more than likely said, “oh ■■■■ , he actually did it”. Then reality began set in and James Crow Esq came to the realization that this man is now the face of America…WTH. James Crow Esq. went into panic mode because he was scared and ended up scaring a lot of other people along the way. Obama is going lead, “The blacks”, and potentially force the sharing of power, resources and responsibility among them and other minorities. James Crow Esq. responded, “aw hell we can’t have this”, but at the same time continue to publicly hide his feelings behind terms/phrases like, socialist, Marxists, communist, fascist, un-American, “he’s from Kenya”, “where’s his birth certificate” and “he’s a Muslim”. Some people(one in particular was louder than the rest) even led the charge to prove that this man wasn’t even born in America and should be disqualified from being President of the United States. Obama’s very image among many stoke the flames of resentment and fear.

I get why people didn’t agree with Obama politically and honestly people had legit reasons and have stuck to those reasons, which is fair. However, this hate has nothing to do with politics, but more about what Obama symbolized as it relates to minorities (members of the global majority) in this country. I also blame the true nature of James Crow, Esq. which has been in hiding long before Obama became president. Obama is James Crow, Esq.'s trigger to wanting to revert back to his Jim Crow roots. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s bigoted. It’s divisive and it’s “hateful”…which is what this thread is about. You’re bringing race into this because that’s how you think…not I.

I don’t see that I remember the Obama times as well, I have never seen a president adored more in my life time by the media than Obama. Now Trump on the other hand that is some hatred. I had little issues with Obama other than the big one Obamacare.

Btw the Kenya, Muslim, and even birther thing was started by the same cool people in the democratic party that brought us the steele dossier.

That should end the thread…but alas.

Bull ■■■■■

Virtue signaling at a national level.

Bull ■■■■ should never end a thread.

No it wasn’t

Not possible.

There you go using that phrase again

Of course it’s possible. White liberals did it.

You know that “white liberals” as a group, signal “virtue” but don’t really mean it?

You know white liberals, as a group, don’t ever really mean it.

It was time. Jacky Obama was acceptable. He was the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.

The only thing more storybook would if he had been 42 instead of 44.

White liberals showed Europe the virtue was worth signaling.

Answer yourself this: was Barack Obama elected by white liberals on merit?

And to answer the OP question: No, Obama is not responsible for today’s hate.

Not true as a whole, but sure there are some.

He had to be all of that to get where he was too. Meanwhile a rich white man with multiple baby mamas (some out of wedlock), adulterer, with a questionable criminal history was elected immediately following that “perfect” black man.

Yes…

The exception does not the rule make.

Because white liberals offered what as an alternative choice?

He certainly and quite deliberately stirred the pot. Beyond dispute.

A true Alinskyite.

This is a perfect example of Jamerican’s post above…using baseless accusations to impugn the otherness of Obama…
