The dems have been asking for $600 a week. Trump gives up 3.

I don’t really see the corner there.

As far as the last 100, as mentioned, it’s not a question of WANTING to give it to people. For many states - red states included - it’s a matter of not being allowed to by law.

Which is why the WH is already hedging and saying the $100 can come in other forms, or be given in the past.

But anyway, so glad to see Conan all in on the Federal Government of the USA handing out free money.

If we can agree that your attitude toward this socialist program and this deficit spending that will explode the debt is not a sign of some inner weakness of yours, we will be able to have a lot of productive and interesting conversations about the future of our country.

Tell that to kentucky.

Is that what you think this is all about…how much per week?

Is so this discussion is over and I’m wasting my time.

If libs have stuck to unemployment and PPE…we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now. And you know it.

I will.

I guess I don’t undertand your point that Trump painted the libs in the corner.

Smart thing was not to start at all and spend first Trillion…
Now we’re getting close to 25 and putting brakes on the trend now is just delaying the inevitable bankruptcy for a few years. And just long enough that who ever had their hand in that disgrace dies and doesn’t have to hide in shame when shizootsky hits the fan.

So let me get this straight: in other topics, people are bashing the Dem governors saying they are looking to bail out their state’s budget from the federal government, but in this topic they are being bashed for not spending additional moneys further stressing their state’s budget.

Truly a “no win” scenario here…

according to the law congress wrote regarding SS taxes, yes, he does. get over it.

Well thought out discussion point here. The president does not have the power to just stop collecting taxes.

That’s why it takes a law to cut taxes and not presidential decrees.

So payroll processed last night. None of the people I’ve spoken with saw a single change on their paychecks. Why not?

Tsk tsk, how quickly Presidential discretion has been abandoned by its former champions. If only someone had warned them they wouldn’t like that precedent having been made and that it would open the door to future Republican Presidents using that discretion in this way. Oh right, they were, because I did.

completely un-thought out response here. The law allows the President to defer collection of SS taxes and to order the deferred receipts be made available to the taxpayer. That is the law. Congress wrote it. The law also gives the President the authority to spend disaster relief funds on disasters, which, thanks to democrats playing politics with peoples jobs, this is. The President is acting well within the law in both cases.

You’re correct. I was mistaken.

NJ can’t afford to take part of Trump’s unemployment relief.

However, if we dump it on taxpayers all over the country and bury it in the national debt…everything’s okey doaky.

Wait. I thought we were supposed to like “prosecutorial discretion”. You only enforce those laws that are convenient. You can’t enforce every law, right?

states can’t print money. The fed. government can.

Well you know, if Congress doesn’t act, the President has to, unless he doesn’t feel like upholding the law that day.

Not without consequence it can’t and not indefinitely either. Know who is buying our debt these days?
