Is mispronouncing "Kamala" racist?

How do you pronounce chic?

Lol.

And a thousand other non English words.

Allan

Chick, not sheik.

Yeah so is chic.

Yet people pronounce it correctly every day.

Allan

After they if they choose to.

You can do it. I believe in you.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Of course I can, if I care. I don’t care.

Lol. Very funny.

You actually pronounce as chick. lol

Tell me you are pulling biggestal99’s leg.

Please.

Allan

You disagree?

By English grammar rules, yes.

Yes but I asked you personally.

You don’t pronounce it chick?

Now do you?

Allan

I don’t use it.

It’s in the Oxford English Dictionary.

It’s a word. Just like any other word.

What word did you use instead of the preferred word.

Stylish?

Allan

She says it’s Hindi for Lotus Flower.
Hindi is the language. Hindu is the religion.

Not at all, there’s plenty of things that are counterintuitive for Americans. I’ve just never heard it expressed in such a way that it could be interpreted as an excuse.

“You can’t expect me to learn how to do that correctly, I’m American!”

Is Ka-mala in the Oxford?

I never needed such a word in English. Stylish probably would have worked if I had.

I stand corrected.

It’s not an excuse, just grammar. There are a lot of names that are not pronounced intuitively.

If one chooses to put forth the effort, it can be overcome. I don’t find it worth the effort in this particular case.

If someone thinks it’s cute to continually mispronounce her name on purpose, there’s probably something going on there.

Like what?
