Who could blame him? Trump cost him the Speakership.

âThey were provoked by the president and other powerful people. And they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like.â
What was interesting is that Ted Cruz was running the show when McConnell said that. I wonder if he had any reaction?
He didnât have a âspeakershipâ.
Yeah, everyone hates Trump. You guys won!
See what nearly 5 years worth of daily hate-memes gets ya??
Wait, why is that a good thing??
I am hopeful that this means a Senate conviction in the impeachment trial is possible.

Yeah, Iâd go with that over what your original reply was.
Good save
Thanks pal. Now will Mitch wish that he had the LEADERSHIP enough to screw Trump ?
And donât forget Antifa and BLMâŚ
Ohhh - I donât think thatâs where Mitch was going with this.
The vote to convict is 2/3 of the Senators present. So there is the possibility that there might be a movement to have the proper number in place to pass. I have also heard that there is a path to have a motion passed that would forbid Trump from every holding federal office again. And that vote is a simple majority. And if passed I think it would really piss off Trump. He is hoping to announce that he is running in 2024 and therefore have a flow of cash to live off of and pay for his ego stoking rallyâs.

McConnell saw his position go from Majority Leader of the Republican party in the Senate with the capability of blocking anything Biden tried to inflict on the US to opposition complainer.
He could put up with Trump while Trump could bring in the votes. Turns out, Trump was good for bringing in the liberal Democrat votes.
Of course McConnell wants Trump out of the wayâŚapparently even at the risk of losing some number of Trump loyalists.

His alternative is an almost certain loss in the 2024 Presidential election, if Trump runs anyway.
Trump cost you guys the White House, House and Senate. Keep up the good work!
You heard it here first!

As do Rubio, Hawley. Cruz, Pompeo, and others.
It takes 2/3 to convict. Once conviction occurs then the Senate can entertain motions for the conviction. Remove from office and/or barring future positions of trust in the Federal government. Those motions require a simple majority, but only after the 2/3rds needed for conviction.
