Is law-fare libs new norm?

it must be those greedy farmers… Lenin and Stalin were right- kill the greedy farmers and then we’ll have more food than you can imagine

Ok let’s say it might be true. Show us how their costs have not gone up such as the costs for goods, transportation, taxes, wages ect or that those increased costs don’t equal the increase in their prices.

Naaaaaaaaaahhhhhh…just put up more solar panels and wind turbines on those farms. Who needs food? We have the more serious issue of “man made global warming” to stress over…amirite? :sunglasses: :tumbler_glass:

I don’t begrudge businesses earning a profit and to be fair, they’re are bigger fish to fry in the food supply chain. Grocery stores have tacked on additional cost that has not decreased as market pressures eased.

What are they using as their excuse?

No, profiteering is the word you use when the abuse doesn’t quite raise to the level of price gouging.

Profiteering and price gouging are basically the same thing.

Or price gouging is a means of profiteering.

Is Biden working with AG’s? I cannot find anything to confirm that.

But if there is any evidence that grocery stores are price gouging don’t you think that should be discussed and looked into?

They really aren’t making one that I’ve found. They are trying to get out ahead of it though which is why these retailers are lowering costs by as much as 30%.

what is price gouging when you have an average 2% net profit?

Seems like they’re being “reasonable” then. Price is a lagging indicator.

I would say it depends on what you are including to get from your gross to your net.

wait…

prices? there are no prices when you shoplift

law fare? no prosecutions for shoplifting less than $900

Could it be…maybe…that the competition has been greatly reduced due to the government shutting down all businesses during COVID except the “box store chains” and that these higher costs are the net result?

That’s not what it’s been the past 2 years. It’s been as high as 6%.

Is 6% “unreasonable” to you?

Like I said, grocery stores are a small part of the problem. The real issue starts further up the chain. You want to know why grocery prices aren’t coming down? This is why.

“Companies have admitted that they are raising prices not because of costs, but because they can,” Tamir says. “They are essentially hiding behind a lot of these excuses as a way to gouge consumers.”

Your link. Hence my question earlier about excuses.

Interesting article. Love the numbers in giant red letters. Very outrage-generating.

You just gave the stores an out.

So don’t look at Biden, look at the grocery stores? You’ve shown no evidence that grocery stores are price gouging.

Not sure if that is accurate or not so cannot comment on the 2% figure; however why don’t we wait for actual details on what Biden wants to do before there is a melt down.

Does anyone have a list of the state AGs that Biden is supposed to be working with?

I think it is entirely possible some grocery stores are taking advantage of increasing food prices to jack up prices even further in order to maximize profit and use the mask of increasing prices to screw over the customer. Is it happening? i have no idea but I see nothing wrong with government ensuring this is not happening.

But I am not naïve, I also know this happening now is because of the election. That does not mean it is not necessary but everything Biden does now is with the election in mind. Just like any other administration wanting a second term.
