I always thought Publix is pretty ridiculous price wise. I have family in Florida and they barely shop there because their prices are too dang high. They go for Walmart more often.

Publix tries to go for that ā€œhey look at how nice and organized the store is versus Wal mart.ā€

That doesn’t work when your two liter drinks are literally five times the price.

Wal mart looks like a dump most of the time, but the prices are right and it’s easy enough to find stuff.

No the ability to create profit isn’t only expressed in margins. It’s part of the formula but it’s not the entire formula

you’ve been trying to get across that a 2% net profit margin is exploitive? And you think you’ll succeed?

No i was trying to get across what profitability means. And as @e7alr explained. It is more than just the profit margin

there’s a reason its called profit-ability and not just profit. and it is always expressed in margins. Gross margin, operating margin, ebidta margin, net margin, net-net, ROI, P/E. All are measures of profitability, and all are ratios. None of them are raw dollar profits, because I made ā€œXā€ last year is meaningless unless you know how much it cost you to make ā€œXā€.

there are other margins used to express it, none of them are raw dollar profits

No, it’s not. No matter how many times you walk through their doors, you will never own that business.

You don’t run it, you don’t get a vote, nobody cares. Buy your tofu and move along.

Irrelevant.

Billions of risks.

To get reelected

It’s also much worse.

And sounds like Biden is attempting to intimidate grocery stores…or at very least blame them for what He did to American people.

I don’t buy fish…or meats from Walmart.

Or blueberry syrup.

I’ve done it a few times in a pinch. It’s not terrible surprisingly.

Still anything from your local butcher are dramatically better cuts.

I’ve never bought fish from Wal Mart. Primarily because I live in Mississippi and catfish from the local spawn farms (I’ve got like twenty in my county) are cheaper than the stuff places like Wal Mart get from Vietnam. When I buy catfish I buy it from the same places all the local restaurants get their catfish from.

I’m totally not bashing Walmart. Sam has a good business model.

Walton was smart. That’s for sure.
