Critical reading skills are useful here. The headline is a lie.
But if they did not just infect the mouse with a naturally occurring bat virus, but engineered a new virus from a naturally occurring bat virus and a second virus, and then infected the mouse with that chimera, what would be the purpose in doing that?

In the article in question the NIH did not specifically say there was engineering of viruses going on, and you oughta know how that goes. Things are constantly twisted and spun into something they are not. SINCE then, literally while I was posting about it, they came out and said it.
THEREFORE, there is new information that was not put out earlier and they have said there was some engineering of viruses going on at Wuhan lab.

To refuse to do so would destroy every military assistance treaty we have ever signed. NATO would fall apart. We would lose our two closest Asian allies for good, Japan and South Korea. The hard work we’ve made building relationships in the Middle East would cease over night. No one would ever trust or ally with the United States ever again.
No matter the feelings on Biden (and believe me I don’t like him) to refuse to honor a signed mutual defense treaty would probably cause a military coup led by the civilian secretary of defense to remove him from the White House. Because they know just how insane and damaging that action would be.
