That’s not what makes them “not arms.” Arms are the standard weapons that issued to each individual soldier for offensive and defensive use. If it explodes, or propels an explosive, its not an arm, its ordnance. Just because the ignorant misuse the term to the point of acceptance does not mean that the meaning of the word in previously written text has changed.

Can we not call the AR-15 a weapon of war, please?

If we’re going to debate, let’s debate with proper terms.

To my knowledge (stand willing to be corrected), the AR-15 has not ever been used by the military. They used the M16 upon which the civilian AR-15 was based…but the military version (M16) had three modes…safe (single shot), burst and auto.

And to my knowledge (again stand willing to be corrected) there are other rifles out there more deadly than the AR-15. The AR-15 just “looks” more deadly. I don’t know- maybe because it has the pistol grip?

3 modes:

Safe - charge, squeeze…nothing.
Semi - charge, squeeze pop, reset, squeeze pop, etc.

Depending on the variant;

Burst - charge, squeeze pop pop pop, reset, squeeze pop pop pop, etc.

Or
