Not sure if this has been widely discussed as I don’t follow sports, but apparently there’s no black players represented on either team in the world series:
It’s my impression that the top level black athletes simply don’t care much about baseball anymore?
Yes in 1991. It’s now at 7.2% in Major League Baseball. Not that I care. Nobody is making it more difficult to make it to the big leagues for any racial reasons in my opinion.
This is the first World Series since 1950 there will not be a single U.S.-born Black player on the field.
“Nah, don’t tell me that,’’ Baker says. “That’s terrible for the state of the game. Wow! Terrible. I’m ashamed of the game.
“Quote me. I am ashamed of the game.’’
Just a manager who loves his sport and wants it to be popular with everyone. It’s not that serious.
Whenever Circuit of the Americas rolls around, everyone complains about the fact that Formula1 has no U.S. drivers. “The sport has to do better, super license needs to acknowledge American series more, etc.”
Sports fans jawing because everyone wants everyone playing the sport they like. Lame that the author picked this as a headline.
Not that I believe the MLB is racist but using “how much someone gets paid” as a reason racism doesn’t exist is rather weak.
MLB doesn’t have a lot of ADOS because they don’t market well to that community. No Ken Griffey or Barry Bonds for those kids to admire.
Plus also access to the sport is not the same for those kids. Every hood I’ve been in has a basketball court or an open field of grass. Rarely a baseball diamond.
It is ridiculous. They just see dollar signs. Just like I do not believe NHL keeps black people out. Black people just don’t like hockey. No access to hockey rinks either. Extremely expensive sport to play.
