This entire thread is about why the highlighted statement should not be.
Iowa is doing the right thing. Don’t like it? Don’t move to Iowa. If you don’t live there, it’s not your problem.

Great, then you agree gender expression is a social construct.
Do you believe the idea of women being submissive and men being domineering is purely biological or do you think society plays a role in teaching women to be submissive and men to be domineering?
Who said “psychologically and emotionally damaged forever”?
Many girls are being emotionally and psychologically scarred by this theft by so-called trans athletes of the fairness that was inherent in women’s sports when only biological women were eligible to compete.
You and those “trans” athletes don’t understand the offense being suffered by these women and girls, because neither you nor your “trans” proteges are female or feminine.

Since it’s apparently your intent to support your psycho babble with more psycho babble I will respectfully bow out of the conversation. I’m not interested in your circular rabbit holes. You’ll argue that we teach gender roles, I ll argue that none of the women in my life are submissive, that domineering men are basically just jerks, and that if the discussion is that gender is a learned behavior then the decision of some to try to push kids into believing they are something they are not should also be questioned and avoided.
We are born make or female.
This thread is about the physical advantages of men over women re: sports.
I support Iowa’s law and hope more states will follow suit. If you disagree that’s up to you.
And no I don’t agree with your gender expression is a social construct crap those are your words not mine.

Even keeping to a discussion of biological sex will leave a wide middle ground between Male and Female.
Sex and Gender are not binary but Bimodal in that the majority falls into two well defined categories but there is a lot of variance between those two peaks in the graph.

It’s because you know many aspects of gender are socially constructed but you just don’t want to admit it. Women aren’t naturally lipstick and skirt wearing submissive housewives and that association with women is a social construct.
This thread is about the physical advantages of men over women re: sports.
Then why did you reply to my post about the definition of gender? Just to thump your chest and piss on sociologists?

Actually your constant harping on this is a good point. Add this to @JayJay’s “tiered” thing (if I understand it correctly) and we have a solution - you can compete up, never down.
So Melissa Beggs should have been allowed to wrestle boys. And so should any other girl, trans or not.
Will Thomas cannot swim with girls because that is down.
Problem solved.

When I was in high school, many sports didn’t have a women’s team, and the women competed with the boys. Swimming. Track. Tennis. Among others.
Here’s a story about girls making it to a state wrestling finals – against boys. AS FEMALES. Not as hormone enhanced girls saying they are males.

They do it in baseball. My 13 year-old kid competed in 18U. No competing in 12U.

Right.
A lot of girls don’t want to be relegated to softball.

Don’t ask me. You are the one who claims there is one.
Psycho babble ■■■■■■■■ you mean!

Yep. Like boxing or wrestling above one’s weight class.
■■■■■■■■ because you’ve read it all and can say for certainty its ■■■■■■■■■ or because you just don’t like what it says? Many folks here in general seem to have hatred towards sociology and psychology.
How about giving birth to a child, that’s a social construct isn’t it?
Yeah, so are certain bodily fluids like semen and monthly blood that can only come from persons of one sex or the other.
Isn’t equality of the sexes great?
Sarcasm off.
