Well that’s even worse for the former favored minority.

Interesting, I just asked a team member of mine. She migrated from Ghana. Went to NYU.
It cost her about $8000 just with fees and lawyers and another $3000 for the plane ticket.

How much did she have in her pocket when she got off the plane?
I am not asking her that. However she did mention that she had some grant money. I assume she was able to use some of that for food and clothing.
She also mentioned that almost every person she knew from Ghana in NY had a degree or was working towards one. Since having a degree means higher salary and then wealth… it would make sense that immigrants coming here specifically to go to school might come out with more income.
I know the woman on my team, she’s 23 making 125k.

The degree thing was addressed in the article. I even quoted it for you.
I know.
Degree = higher median income

Is that how a majority of immigrants get here from Africa?
Refugee status?
I am not sure actually. Could be overstayed visas too.

I feel like reports like this come out every few years. How African Immigrants tend to do better than African Americans. At least I feel this has come up before throughout the years on these forums.
I wonder if studies have been done on immigrants who come here deliberately for better education/life and those who come over as refugees?
Most immigrants who come here the legal prescribed way do very well.

A graph. When you add a couple of generations, it’s much better.
