Interesting, I just asked a team member of mine. She migrated from Ghana. Went to NYU.

I am not asking her that. However she did mention that she had some grant money. I assume she was able to use some of that for food and clothing.

She also mentioned that almost every person she knew from Ghana in NY had a degree or was working towards one. Since having a degree means higher salary and then wealth… it would make sense that immigrants coming here specifically to go to school might come out with more income.

I know the woman on my team, she’s 23 making 125k.

The median income part is interesting. If I had to guess… I would bet a large majority of African immigrants come here from wealth. It’s expensive to immigrate from Africa.
