Ummmmmmm…

No weight restrictions on bridges? Somebody hasn’t thought that one out.

That’s what happens when an expert tells a novice important information … when the novice repeats it, it often comes out wrong. All bridges have weight capacity limits, but it is sufficiently great enough that it matches what the adjacent roads can carry. But when there is a structural problem with the bridge, engineers will reduce the allowable weight … i.e. a weight restriction … on that bridge, which is less than the weight allowed on the road to and from the bridge. That effectively limits the weight that can be hauled over that route. There are thousands of deficient bridges in America. The so-called Infrastructure Bill will fund fixing a lot of them, thus removing the weight restriction on them.

“[Mr. Biden] has been told of the bridge collapse in Pittsburgh,” Ms. Psaki tweeted. “Our team is in touch with state and local officials on the ground as they continue to gather information about the cause of the collapse.”

Ms. Psaki added that Mr. Biden is “grateful to the first responders who rushed to assist the drivers who were on the bridge at the time.”

“This bipartisan infrastructure law is critical to southwestern Pennsylvania and the city of Pittsburgh,” Mr. Gainey said. “We know we have bridges we need to take care of. With [Mr. Biden] coming today to talk about this infrastructure bill, to discuss why this funding is so important, today is significant.”

This is an incredible case of irony. There were no plans in place to repair or replace the structure.

I consider it a local or state failure.

Another case of Biden touches it and it fails?

or

Trump couldn’t get it done or was stonewalled or what?

Just a case of a VERY ironic coincidence.

Wonder what else they were spending the bridge money on?

I’m from Pittsburgh and remember the Frick Bridge being built, It was a piece of ■■■■ then and poorly maintained for 50 years. J’Biden’s handlers should come up with something cunning to say about the bridge and his crafty “infrastructure” solution.

Looks like they could have fixed this bridge by changing the weight limit to six tons.

Ask all the repub congresscritters touting all the money coming to their districts thanks to the bill they voted against.

There was no heavy snow. The inspection messed up. There was a lot of bad structure steel.

A growing number of House Republicans who voted against the bipartisan infrastructure package last year are now striking a different tone by promoting components of the massive funding measure that they see as beneficial to their constituents.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, on Monday praised an ecosystem restoration plan in his district backed by infrastructure funds. “For many folks in the area, this project revives the area’s storied past and deep roots,” he said in a statement.

1970, when domestic steel made in Pittsburgh wasn’t being used for projects in Pittsburgh! LOL
The steel used on the Frick Bridge was probably imported pot metal recycled Chevy Corvairs sold to China!

Most of the Bill was not direct infrastructure spending. Republicans in general supported the infrastructure part and objected to the rest of it. It is NOT disingenuous of them now to continue to support and laud the infrastructure projects.

This is just another example if the games played in Congress. Find some way to make your opponent voice objection to something they support. That’s politics as usual, but there is no excuse for intelligent people to buy into it like you apparently have here.

^^^ Case in point.

I doubt the source of the steel played a role in the collapse of the bridge. Most likely it was caused by lack of proper maintenance.

No “different tone”. They were for the infrastructure components in the bill. They just refused to let Democrats dishonestly piggy-back socialist social policy in the same bill.

What socialist policies did the infrastructure bill include?

Entropy. On what do you base your estimation?
