If the worst of January 6 could be tied directly to Trump instigating it, that would have happened and charges would have been brought.
He had no benefit to achieve from that fiasco.
Still, he called people to Washington, and among those were some shady types who invaded the Capitol building.
He can use reason to show that he was not leading some insurrection and did not intend violence.
If he gets the nomination for 2024, the counter to that argument will simply be endless videos of Bison Man and the violence that did occur.
That is going to be difficult to overcome with many moderate voters. It is an extra hurdle that need not have existed.

No idea. Dallas is a Democrat county, and anyway I don’t talk politics in person.
