If it gets to the Senate on January 21st then I believe it will be as #2 becomes the only real option.

I donât think an impeachment now is going to placate the thirst for vengeance radical zealots wish to quench and it certainly wonât assuage any grievance Trump loyalists may perceive.
That is true.
Once he leaves office, either through resignation, 25th Amendment, or Impeachment - then #1 does not apply. However he can still be impeached after leaving office so that barring from a future position of trust in the United States government can be made.

On January 21st, Trump is no longer president and can no longer be removed from office â it would be a moot point then.
And stock prices. Already down 4 percent in futures i hear.

If the Senate can impeach an officer who is not an officer because his term has ended, then can they impeach someone who has never held an office?
No, that argument makes no sense at all. Impeachment is solely for people holding office. Dems will have to get their revenge some other way.
Love the way they are living up to Bidenâs promise to be a great unifier.
Another lying President in office.

First, to your ending commentâŚ
A few years ago, we were never going to get to a point where Trump was president. The way this show is playing out, who knows what weâll be capable of doing in the next few years.
Second, is there a time limit on impeachment? Not for a result of removal from office obviously, but to bar him from public office. Could an impeachment be held in a year or so, say after a conviction for some crime?
Image just captured.
Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P futures are actually up.

Psst - you know there is already precedent for impeaching someone after they have left office right?

It not just nancy. Mitch wants trump to go also.

As far as I know, which I donât claim to be an authority, there is no time limit on when impeachment can occur.
Technically Congress could impeach Woodrow Wilson and bar him from holding public office again.
It is likely? No.
If Congress doesnât impeach President Trump soon, it wonât happen as there will not be the votes to convict. (Not that conviction is likely to occur now anyway.)

The Senate wonât even hear the case until Trump is gone!
At this point impeaching Trump is a unifying gesture.
Republicans will also support it. Trump canât ever be in government power again.

No it wonât. It could prohibit him from trying again in 2024 and also removes his immunity

While it may not make sense to you it is reality
They should also move to impeach the thirteen senators who went along with his bs.

It only ended up being 8. I believe Hawley definitely should be removed.

I still would only choose to hold accountable those that didnât back down after the debacle unfolded
