In Idaho, America's first, and only, cobalt mine in decades is opening

The EPA has teeth under the current administration. Precautions will be taken.

44 million dollar oops deposit isn’t big but it ain’t small either.

Not to mention centuries worth of coal, millennia worth of nuclear.

If our descendants haven’t figured out how to fuel and feed themselves without fossil fuels by the time those centuries have passed… ■■■■ 'EM!

You don’t have to try so hard to prop of this admin.

I worked for EPA in Region 10 which covers Idaho. I know how they work and what they can and cannot do and what they did and did not do in regards to Superfund site in Idaho and the states within Region 10.

It’s not all about Biden ya know.

Propping up would have involved big fanfare about the return of domestic mining after 40 years.

Or lots of flapping about Biden’s New Deal creating an unprecedented business-friendly environment to extend the mine’s life, and encouraging others to produce minerals domestically for the sake of national security.

Maybe even a few horn toots about industrial policy and environmental policy coexisting–despite exaggerated conservative refrains that greenies would allow no such thing.

don’t give a ■■■■■ i ain’t worried about “virtue”

Friday’s announcement is the latest in a string of lithium companies announcing new or expanded U.S. plants on the heels of the Inflation Reduction Act. The legislation provides support for lithium companies on the manufacturing side, while also tying the incentives for EV tax rebates to where the vehicle’s battery is produced.

IRA continues to strengthen our domestic supply chain.

I am sure companies who have been told we are phasing out fossil fuels will be eager to develop those leases.
