Bernie grew up in the 1950’s during a time period when woman had just broken out of forced subservient life due to the WWII and woman were pushing for greater and greater sexual liberation.

Bernie was alive when the cultural stereotype for a woman was she was basically property of her husband.

the counter cultural stereotype of woman fantasy was primitive wild sex mostly with African American something society deemed on civilized.
