Immigration is still an issue, right?

Of course the idea is to punish them, they cheated right?

No, they are not “minor.”

Part of me is angry about this.
Part of me is laughing.

Construction boss waits for roofers to complete their job—then calls ICE to snatch them up.

“Look there,” worker says in Portuguese. “Just finished building the roof, and someone called ICE on us.”

Now, the contractor gets the whole payment and doesn’t have to share it.

I was said the guys who hire illegals are law-breaking scum
and their scumminess is not limited to just one thing.

Finally, some immigration reform… baby steps

We need the Dignity Act. Or some equivalent.

I could live with some sort of negotiated bill with an amnesty if I believed anything but the amnesty part would be put into effect. History is not encouraging. The 1988 amnesty should have put this to rest.
I really don’t feel an urgent need to grant some sort of residency based on someone knowingly being here illegally a long time. On the other hand, sending back peoples aging aunts when they really voted for Trump to get rid of the hordes let in by Biden may be too damaging with the Hispanic voters.

For a man.

You’re right. It should have.

I’ll say this. The focus on the issue is far more intense now. And if something like that were to pass, Trump (or his successor, likely Vance or Rubio) would not be a kinder-gentler Bush who allowed far too much to ride on his watch.

I don’t consider it an urgent need. I just see it as a pragmatic approach to ease out of a situation this nation (not just Biden) has let get out of hand. There is a human element to this whole thing.

And we could still be deporting without triggering the poster-child examples that energize the opposition to deportation.
