So my gut feeling better as right…when you said “income” you weren’t including investment income.

Well of course that is going to skew your numbers.

Also you aren’t taking into account the income distribution curve, which is very very highly skewed to the top.

So if course the very wealthy can be paying “most of the total income taxes” while still having a much smaller effective tax rate than lower income earners.

Nice try though.

They are paying most of the taxes without even taken into the equation the taxes they also pay on investments.

Again, it was a depiction of a white family, it was pretty much apolitical and dealt with no societal issues of the time. It took place entirely in their home. There was no overt racism I am aware of included. You can’t blame the show for the time it was embedded in.

Speaking for Colorado, not much.

Colorado has implemented plenty of oversight and safeguards.

Your mail-in ballot must be signed, and your signature must match the signature on file that was collected when you registered. Registration requires a valid ID, so by extension, voting requires a valid ID.

You can mail in your ballot, or you can drop it off at one of the hundreds of drop boxes. When your ballot is received, you get an email letting you know. When it is counted, you get an email letting you know. (Or an email telling you why your ballot was rejected, giving you an opportunity to object or to correct the issue.)

If you fail to vote within a certain number of voting cycles, your registration is taken off the rolls. You are notified of that, and you can re-register. (The purpose of this is to keep the voter rolls clean.)

And if you are a person who insists on in-person voting, Colorado still has polling locations – both for early voting and election-day voting. (Approximately 10% of voting in Colorado is done in-person.)

I don’t know how long the other states have been doing mail-in voting or the safeguards they employ. I assume they’ve also worked out the bugs. What I have doubts about are states that implemented mail-in voting mere months before election day.
