“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple."

“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” -Senator Chuck Schumer, 2009

“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” -Barack Obama, 2005

“I voted numerous times… to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” -Hillary Clinton, 2008

When dems voters were told these quotes they thought Trump made them…lol!

Trump is Cool…

Neat, as they said they have long since voted for the money needed for barriers and consistently vote for proper border security; additional money for a “wall” is a waste and only a monument to the vanity of Trump.

Turns out that negotiating against yourself is a bad negotiating strategy. Who knew?

The GOP could have done this in, say, October–or October of 2017. That they didn’t make it a priority, say, 3 months ago, but now, it’s a national emergency(?) when the Democrats have one chamber of Congress, gives the whole stupid scam away.

The GOP could have done this through reconciliation, if they wanted or it mattered that much. But it didn’t. Bad faith. Terrible, terrible, terrible people. Raze it, burn it, salt the ■■■■■■■ earth.

“We are going to build a wall. And Mexico is going to pay for it!" - Donald “Master Negotiator” Trump, 2015-2019

2019: We’re going to shut down the government and not pay hundreds of thousands of public employees until Americans agree to pay for the wall!

How dark, broken, and ■■■■■■ -in-the-head do you have to be to support this ■■■■■■■■■ (That’s a rhetorical question; we see the answer every day here.)

Of course when you throw in that was in exchange for a partial amnesty, you then have a different story. So don’t throw that part in.

A partial amnesty that Mr. Trump claimed he also wanted. Don’t forget that part as well. Lol

The only relevant part would be if it can be shown to have only a tiny impact on stemming illegal immigration. When we support the police and enforce laws, our main consideration should not be “How does it affect GDP”?

Trump is still willing to give that partial amnesty and extend it beyond DACA. Democrats rejected the offer. They need their chain migration as opposed to immigration based on the needs of the country.

well considering that most illegal immigrants overstay visas and come in through the front gate or in planes then yea it would have a tiny impact. making it a consideration is not making a main consideration. you would think a business genius a la trump would understand a cost benefit analysis and opportunity costs

Good. Democrats need to work on interior enforcement to remove those overstays then.

Of course, when a significant number in your party support sanctuary cities and getting rid of ICE enforcement, that’s a little hard to do.

And while more may be by visa overstays than by border crossing, the word “most” gives an inaccurate impression. Provide some comparative numbers if you are gong to make that claim.

Schumer Tweet - “Our position has been clear from the beginning: Ds & Rs have a months-old agreement in the Senate. $1.6B for border security, NOT a concrete wall or increases in detention beds or ICE agents. We should stick to this agreement. If POTUS interferes, he is responsible for a shutdown”](Vote Smart | Facts For All)

This “crisis” is a result of the CEC blasting Trump for not keeping his campaign promise. He does not care about border security. He cares about the win. And if he can not get the win he wants the fight, all the way to November 2020. This administration can not even come up with a plan on how the $5B would be spent. Why? Because they don’t have one. And he has shifted his story about the wall so many times that he and his administration would look silly in court should it come down to it. Let’s be clear. The Democrats have always voted for border security bills. And these bills have always specified on how those funds would be allocated. The OP wants to try to spin it so it looks like the Democrats have always wanted a wall but not now that Trump is President. Well nice try. But we are smarter then that.

I wonder if there have been any technological advances in the last decade that offset the need for physical barriers?

No, I guess that’s just a silly thought.

Carry on.

done

Crossing the border is not the way “the large majority of persons now become undocumented,” the Center for Migration Studies(CMS) said in a recent report. Two-thirds of those who joined the undocumented population did so by entering with a valid visa and then overstaying their period of admission, the center repored.

Overstays have exceeded those entering illegally every year since 2007, and there have been half a million more overstays than illegal entries since 2007.

Um, duh, so let’s build a wall around visas then.

wall is a $5.6B campaign donation to Trump, courtesy of the American taxpayer.

Tonight will unprecedented, instead of calming the nations fears over a emergency or crisis, as previous addresses did, the President will do the opposite attempt to manufacture fear in order to satiate his own vanity.
