If what they mean by defund is get more cops, you might have a point. But that ain’t what they mean.

Camden did not defund the police, they got rid of the union and joined with another force to get MORE police. What you’re showing here is a perfect example of what the defund movement is against.

But you go ahead with it. All good, I don’t live anywhere where it’s going to matter.

That’s not true at all.

In 2013, Camden disbanded its city police at the behest of state and local lawmakers. At the time, there were about 200 police officers, according to the county spokesperson, but 30 percent would call out absent on any given day.

It means they had a hiring, leadership and morale problem and it needed to be fixed. When I see problems at the bottom, the real problem is at the top. The elected leaders of the city and state are the problem.

Except of course that that is not what happened in Camden. The only thing that happened in Camden was union busting. They used the money they saved to get even more cops.

These are reforms that have nothing to do with the BLM agenda of defunding the police.
From the article:
“Currently, the Camden police budget is $69m, up from $62m in 2013. And the number of police has gone up from 200 to 380 people. The crime rate is at a 50-year low, and excessive force complaints (which are reported from the police department itself) have dropped from 64 to three in two years, according to a country spokesperson.”

If BLM was chanting “hire more police” your post might be relevant.

The article didn’t state otherwise or anything to prove you right and that’s why you can’t post anything from it to prove me wrong. Now say it…orange man baa, baaa, baaad. :sunglasses:

This is what Camden did:

“In response, city officials came together to enact a new plan: disband the city police, including the expensive police union contract, and rehire more police under the local county jurisdiction of the same name.”

Then they joined with another group that helped with the way police acted:

“In 2016, Camden county also teamed up with New York University’s Policing Project, which acted as a consultant to help update the police department’s policies, including the use of force, which determines what a police officer is allowed to do when interacting with a resident. The county implemented trainings, anti-bias programs and simulators, following American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey guidelines.”

Gee, that sounds like a terrible idea.

More than 50% of all United States refugees are successful?

Tell me you don’t believe that.

Allan

It sounds like what President Trump has been supporting, actually.

Wait, so Camden didn’t just get rid of the police? But that’s what you’ve been arguing, that all “libs” wanna do is get rid of the police. Sounds like “defund the police” actually was to get the police out of their expensive union contract and get them hired under each local jurisdiction.

Did I say what Camden did was a bad idea? No, I did not. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the defund the police movement which literally wants to defund the police and have fewer of them. What Camden did resulted in more cops, not less.

You were wrong.

So the police budget has gone up $7 million in 7 years and they have hired 180 more police officers, crime rates are at a 50 year low and excessive force complaints have dropped from 64 down to 3 AND we should be complaining about this?

Jeez.

which is exactly the opposite of what “defund the police” means. Of course, you know that. But do continue, the entertainment value watching you spin is priceless.

Your first mistake was not defining “successful.”

You have to go to those wonderful YouTube sites that feature angry felines…that’s where rumor magically gets transformed into fact.

Then you will be truly enlightened and not a regurgibleeter.

So they didn’t defund the police?

Jeez.

No they transformed their police.

I have been saying all along that “Defund the Police” is a stupid slogan.

Nice and simple for angry people to yell…not even close to addressing root causes of the problems.

No complaining…just noting it is the opposite of the "defund the police’ meme.

They did. Camden got rid of the expensive union contract. So, the police we defunded.
