Meanwhile, what is the gen pop and thug pop doing.
You aren’t factoring in inflation.
Of course it didn’t happen. The police unions have been trotting this out every time they get bad publicity at least since the Miranda decision. That was sixty years ago.

I have evacuated from New Orleans to San Antonio, where we also evacuated from Katrina. My brother-in-law lives here and has been with the SAPD for over 30 years. We’re having dinner together tomorrow. If the forum has any questions to pose to my brother-in-law, let me know and I’ll try to ask (if my wife doesn’t kill me for it). I’ll try to report back.
Personally I would be curious on what his feelings are in general in the community he works in?
Do they focus much on de-escalation and if so, has it increased since the protests and riots?

Truth tell, I have no clue. Don’t talk to my brother-in-law too much about all this, and we don’t see him all they often. Of course he talks to his sister (my wife) all the time, but mainly it’s just family stuff. But I can ask him about more “political” things when we go out tomorrow. But frankly, it might just be family talk and just having a good time.
Glad you’re ok. I have friends in your area as well and it’s been rough. Hopefully, life will return to some degree of normalcy for you soon.

My brother-in-law, the police officer, served in Desert Storm. But like the rest of my family, he’s pretty liberal. He was featured, for a few seconds, in the HBO special “Ernie and Joe,” highlighting the SAPD’s attempt to deal with crime involving the mentally ill.

Thanks EV. We’re fine compared to many. We always had planned to ride out the storm and then get out of Dodge. Wish I would have gone before the storm, but it just happened so fast and we knew the interstate was clogged. Our little 4-room brick box was fine and because the big hospital is across the street, we can see by the maps that we have power. There are so many others that are in more desperate conditions, so best wishes for any of your friends that were in harm’s way.

Personally, I avoid most of that stuff with family. It’s a huge family and we have the funnest get togethers, why mess with a good thing?
