The thing is: I was open four years ago to this possibility. And Trump was a black swan (sort of). So. But no one ever explained how or why it was going to work, especially when Trump came into office with one setting: WINGNUT, BUT HARDER THIS TIME. Lots of doubling down on most of the things everyone claims to hate about politics (grifting, divisiveness, lobbyists, broken promises, general incompetence). The Republican base liked it. Everyone else barfed.
He loves the attention, he canāt get enough of it and I donāt think that TV gives him the same buzz as an adoring live audience does. He can literally fly all over the country for 4 years and soak it in. Plus, he can use his followers to primary any GOP member that doesnāt lick his boots.
No. If he loses, Donald Trumpās model will be Jimmy Carter: after a one-term presidency, Trump will spend the next 40 years or so in humble and dignified service to others.
Okay. Just kidding. If he loses, I think heās going to start a Trumpy nationalist media platform. Lots of ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā about how it will make him even more influential than the president, without all the boring parts. He can watch TV and tweet at all waking moments. Thatās what he likes to do. Plus, it will be his own playground, so he can contrive to get the endorphin rushes he needs.
I donāt think it will last, though. Depending on how long he lives, heās headed for Palinville.
