I live in Upstate NY. My choices are Dr. Jim Maxwell (R) vs. Joe Morelle (D) for my district. It’s basically the seat Louise Slaughter had over 20 years.
My choices for Governor are Andrew Cuomo, Marc Molinaro, Cynthia Nixon, and Larry Sharpe. .
For Senator, it’s between Chele Farley and Kristen Gillibrand.
While I am mad at the GOP for Trumpism and sucking up to the religious right in this country (the GOP platform still opposes government marriage for same-sex couples), I also hate how the Democrats in NY care very little about upstate NY and our problems.
I went to one of Maxwell’s political forums, and he’s really great guy. He’s a rookie politician and a former medical doctor for spine and brain injuries, and he’s running as a moderate Republican, which I like.
Molinaro and Farley are extremely unknown and their campaigns have produced ZERO campaign ads on television, ditto for Maxwell.
If I were to vote today, I probably would go for Maxwell, Molinaro, and Gillibrand. Farley is running as a Trumpist, which is odd because she’s running in a state where it’s 2:1 Democrat to Republican. But then again, putting in Farley would be a rebel vote against the Democratic establishment in NY.
BTW - I am under no delusion, Morelle, Gillibrand, and Cuomo will win.
