Sending the message to their teen age son that already won’t get off the couch, will be sent the message that getting high while he is doing it has the stamp of approval of society, mostly. My brother went through it with a step son in Denver a few years ago. It’s not hard for a 15 year old to find an 18 year old or even a 21 year old to buy it for him. Yes I know booze. Booze is harder to hide.

So Schumer and company are proposing legislation to legalize marijuana because they’re scared of… think of the children?
That doesn’t make sense.

Sorry, I just assumed it was why people are scared of legalization.

Losing.

I doubt there is a single Senator in this country safer than Chuckie.

He admitted who he is afraid of.

New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is “being really dumb” by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia’s cyber activities.
“Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
“So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.”

You feel he wants to be the minority leader again?
Are you afraid that Republicans are going to fight against it?

I’m not afraid of anything political. I know they’ll fight, it, they’re stupid.
I just think it’s funny that you need to frame an issue supported by the vast majority of Americans as a comfort blanket.
“The fact that they’re proposing legislation supported by most Americans means they’re scared!”

Here is the play, try for a national law, fail, get it on state ballots for the mids, dems love that move.

There’s only five states left without some level of decriminalization or medical access.
I think beating the Republicans in the Senate with their refusal to pass is a better strategy.

I think it’s cute you believe dems give a rat’s ass what Americans want.

Exactly as much as Republicans do - or as any politicians do.

Well, we have medical in Ohio, but it’s pretty restrictive and I still want recreational.
Don’t worry. One way or another, it’s coming.
what do the people in those states think?
or “screw them” this is about what we want govt to do?
I care exactly as much as I care about what the people thought in states with misegenation laws on the books in 1967.
Yep, that’s it.

No big deal, recreational is decriminalized and Michigan is three hours away. Not sure how useful a demonization of Republicans in the Senate will be.
from https://norml.org/blog/2021/04/01/new-national-poll-75-of-americans-oppose-marijuana-prohibition/
The respondents were given three options: The federal government should legalize it in the U.S. (38%), States should decide at their level (37%), or It should be illegal everywhere in the U.S. (25%).
