I won’t disagree, but I do agree that an apples to apples comparison is very difficult.

Not only based on the teaching v. research model, but also to to wide variations in cost of living.

These types of overall averages aren’t very valid, IMHO.

The term “administrators” is used to differential non-teachers from teachers, which again IMHO, provides are very misleading view.

At appears it includes all non-teaching staff including grounds keepers, food service, janitorial, and maintenance.

My wife works for a local state University. Her’s is a small data analytics department and her job focuses on required reporting for Federal, State, and private requirements (Princeton Review, USA/Today, etc.)

1.)
American University professors are paid 180% of their European counterparts and teach 3/5 as much. Certainly we can predict the results of what an actual apples-to-apples comparison would show

2.) Yes it probably includes all non-teaching staff including grounds keepers, food service, janitorial, and maintenance.

  • The guy who cuts the tiny patch of grass in front of a 2,000-student dorm.
  • The vast and sprawling res life office that hires people of color to plan volleyball games,
  • the minority recruitment office,
  • the office of feel-good initiatives and event alike the Vagina Monologues
  • the office that brings in $30,000/hr celebrity “lecturers” for the “Neato whiz bang guest lecture series” (ask your wife)
  • etc.

The problem is in primary education. With the amounts of money being thrown at public schools in “inner cities”, the bureaucrats, overpaid “education administrators” and school boards need to either find another line of work or the city councils need to fire them all, create a safe environment where students can learn and teachers can teach, terminate the bull ■■■■ Union agreements that don’t benefit students at all and remove the dumbass politics from school curriculum. Public schools are producing students that cannot do basic math or read at grade levels. They’ve lowered the standards so that their results can be justified. The students can’t meet the lowered standards! Schools are dangerous and that needs to be changed. Maniacs that go to school and eat for free then assault students and teachers or are a constant distraction in the classroom need to be removed. Principals simply need to grow a pair and tell the parents or whoever is in charge of these cretins “your child doesn’t belong in this school, we don’t know where he/she/it belongs but it’s not here” and move on to serve students who are there to learn.
Meanwhile the ChiComs and the Russians are educating their children to dominate and outperform the US next generations. Wake up America.

And when once poor who became successful individuals like say Dr. Ben Carson or Senator Tim Scott encourage those who are the same, they’re condemned, criticized and labeled as “old Toms and the like.

SAT prep is a huge industry. Why do you think that is, and which students do you think are able to take advance of it?

Why You Can’t Correlate SAT to IQ

The answer to why you can’t calculate your IQ from your SAT score is simple: the SAT is designed to test the facts, concepts, and skills you have acquired over your academic career. To test this, the SAT will present problems and situations that require you to rely on the information already in your possession. Alternately, IQ tests evaluate your ability to formulate answers with only the information provided to you. More simply, an IQ test examines not what you’ve learned, but your capacity for learning.

Aptitude tests.

So, is an intelligence test an example of an aptitude test? Not exactly. The two tests are similar, but distinct in what they measure.

An intelligence test measures your current cognitive skills; on the other hand, an aptitude test measures whether you have the potential to develop skills in the future in specific areas.

The stupid ones.

I saw that NYT article. It’s hogwash.

Stop plagiarising, you aren’t Brandon.

MSEd.

I didn’t say that SAT tests were a type of IQ test, but rather that historically they have correlated strongly with IQ teats. That is done simply by relating SAT scores with IQ scores for people who have taken both.
I have t looked into this for decades just because I have had no reason to do so.

IQ tests are racist, right?
