Two things:

First, we’re not talking about upstate, we’re talking about New York City. NYC has had a vaccine mandate for all bars and restaurants since the summer - and because of that, there is no mandate that bars or restaurants in the City should require masks.

Second, the bar AOC went to in Florida was outdoors.

This isn’t complicated.

That is a statewide mandate that all bars and restaurants must either: (1) enforce a mask mandate; or (2) check vaccine cards at the door.

But in NYC, every bar and restaurant is already checking vaccine cards at the door - meaning they’re already meeting the statewide mandate, and no masks are required.

Everything AOC did while she was in Florida, she could have done in NYC.

It has been unseasonably warm in NYC this winter, but sure.

Around now is the only time Florida isn’t a sweltering hellhole, so it makes sense. I went to New Orleans between Christmas and New Years for the same reason.
