Now to be fair, the hoi-polloi elite were pretty sure they had enough gardeners, maids and pool boys to quickly disperse the new immigrants foisted upon them at Martha’s Vineyard. They only wanted “their” immigrants, not those immigrants. That put them over their allotment they were willing to bear. Besides they hadn’t had years to mold those newcomers to be the “right kind of immigrant” yet.
