Plus the problem is made worse by sanctuary city politicians who encourage illegals to evade our immigration laws and even help hide illegal criminals from law enforcement. By encouraging lawlessness, they encourage violent confrontations that could otherwise be avoided. No dog was attacking someone peacefully consenting to our laws.
The last hair-on-fire article posted on this board (maybe in this thread, I can’t remember) showed that 147 US citizens have actually been detained by ICE.
Even if ten times that amount can be shown, that’s still a minuscule number among the millions that ICE had detained.
And to be blunt, I don’t even consider them errors. I’ll bet that among those millions, ICE has heard it over and over again, “I’m US citizen.” And then many turn out NOT to be. It’s the latest phrase illegals have been taught to parrot, because “ass-eel-um” doesn’t work any more. It’s not the arresting officer’s job to determine legitimacy of claims or ferret out forged passports and fake drivers licenses. Sweep them all up in the moment, and let processing center hammer out legitimacy.
Or 1000. I’m not moved by rates of error that are measured after the decimal point across millions of detentions.
But even if there are just two, making the example plural, libs can technically say “citizens” or “veterans”. (And the “veterans” problem (to libs) doesn’t take into account that those veterans could still be either actual illegal aliens or immigrants who subsequently committed actual crimes.)
Let’s recall how ridiculous enforcement of immigration laws were under Biden. For an illegal in the interior of the US to be deported, they had to have committed a crime. But not just any crime. ICE evaluated the category of seriousness of the crime, so that an illegal who committed what they considered a lesser offense got to stay. Sanctuary cities were reportedly giving lesser sentences so the illegal would t be removed.
Or as Google put it:
Prioritized Deportations”: The administration’s guidance prioritizes individuals convicted of or who have intentionally participated in organized criminal gang activity, or those with serious criminal histories, such as murder, rape, or major drug infractions.
Discretion: The policy grants ICE officers more discretion on a case-by-case basis, considering factors like the seriousness of the offense, time since the offense, and evidence of rehabilitation.“
Current policy: Do they have a legal right to be in the US?
One citizen recalled that federal agents pointed guns at her youngest children, ages 6 and 8, and dragged her 14-year-old daughter out of a pickup and zip-tied her.
The citizen, Anabel Romero, told investigators that an agent threatened to ■■■■■■■■ blow your head off” during the chaotic raid at a rural Idaho racetrack. Romero also said agents “wouldn’t let people get diapers or food for their kids.”
Not at all. Kristi Noem even said they were soon to be scaling back on untargeted round ups where most citizens get harrassed, and focusing more on targeted apprehensions. Like they should have done from day one.
That worst of the worst was a lie from day one. Maybe in the near future they can actually start to do that.
Yep, the best of the worst are still fair game and when most of the worst of the worst are rounded up and sent home (or to prison) the focus will be on them until there are no worsts of any ilk to round up.
Are you implying some of these anecdotes may be….exaggerrated? Antifa supporters and illegals would never do that. Democrats in the Senate would never buy into the lies. /sarc
They need to target anyone who is here illegally. Hopefully, increased funding will allow for an increase in apprehensions. The problem with ICE is that they need to step up apprehensions of illegals.
The law makes no distinction exempting those that have not broken non immigration related criminal laws.
