There are roughly 6 million vehicle accidents a year in this country. The fatality rate is 11.2 per 100k.

Then why did you post what you did? It’s a meaningless statistic in the context of a discussion of auto deaths being preventable with safety equipment.

Well, it’s a pointless statistic without the stat prior to teh implication of seatbelt requirements.

I don’t like laws designed to protect you from yourself. I remember when PA rescinded our motorcycle helmet law, the only people who were pissed, where people who didn’t even ride motorcycles.

No, they aren’t. You are assuming the drivers are the same now as then and would revert back to the previous usage levels. Bad assumption.

I don’t wear a seat belt because it’s law, it’s just an add on charge anyway.

I wear a seat belt because I am smart.
