Don’t get me wrong.

Throw the book at Hunter.

But the hypocrisy is fantastic.

I’ve never seen anyone on here advocate for admitted drug addicts actively abusing to have weapons.

It was dumped in a Supermarket dumpster, not a school dumpster. Was a school nearby? Is that all it takes? Maybe the Supermarket was near a church, or an orphanage! Yes! An orphanage sounds worst of all!

Well he was fresh out of rehab (2 weeks sober) when he bought the gun and didn’t use drugs until a few weeks later. What time period would you suggest we codify into law as to when someone is permitted to buy a gun with a prior history of drug use? This would be for pot as well. 1 year? 2 years? Lifetime? Let’s make a law!

How would a president showing up at the trial add any more weight to the fact that he’s currently the president, and the defendant is the president’s son??

Are you suggesting the jurors are somehow unaware of thier relationship??

joe’s a scumbag (aka biden).

According to his writing, he was waiting on his dealer the day after he bought the gun and was smoking crack the next day.

No, I was suggesting that no matter what Joe Biden chose to do, you would find a reason to attack him. Even when you misconstrued what I wrote, you found a basis to attack him.

There are two schools nearby, but the fact that one is for adults takes the edge off it. The kids are more likely to hit up the Walgreens across the street than head down the road a little way to the local version of Whole Foods.

He’s busy.

Rumor has it Joe’s been spending a lot of time in Florida with Melania. Keeping them away from both trials!

So, was he sober when he bought the gun? For a few weeks? How long does he need to be sober to buy a gun and should this be a Federal or a State law restricting gun access?

I know kids, and there’s nothing they love to do more than jump into Supermarket dumpsters with all that rotten and slimy food! It’s so fun! Imagine the horror of them happily sliding and slipping and suddenly, a gun is in there ruining their fun! Its tragic!

The question is “Are you an unlawful user of…”, not are you currently sober.

I didn’t write the rules or the questions, I just expect people to follow them as I’m expected to. You want a specific timeline for how long someone shouldn’t be an unlawful user of drugs before they can buy a gun, ask the “common sense gun control” advocates.

Well, Hunter is being charged after being sober for 2 weeks, so it’s obvious to me that 2 weeks isn’t enough. Is it two months? Two years? Two decades? If someone wants to buy a gun (as is their 2nd amendment right to) when has their constitutional right to own a weapon been restored? We should write that number down so folks aren’t being prosecuted like Hunter is at the moment.

Common sense doesn’t cut it! He used his and as you can see, he was dead wrong! And rightfully so, the very next day he wound up falling off the wagon! It was too soon to legally own a gun!

I agree with my Conservative friends here. We need to restrict access to firearms when it comes to, and I quote you now, those who are “unlawful users” of controlled substances.

Like pot! Federally, pot is still illegal. Which means we should prosecute every American who purchases or owns weapons that also used or uses Marijuana. The question is, how long should someone be sober from pot before being given their 2nd amendment rights back? 2 days? 2 weeks? 2 months? 2 years? 2 decades?

We gotta write this stuff down!

Again, I neither wrote or advocated for the rules and regulations presented on form 4473. At some point in time, some group of gun control types decided unlawful users of drugs (yes, that includes pot…it says so on the form) should not be allowed to buy a gun. If you think Hunter is in the clear for this because he wasn’t actively smoking crack while filling out the form in the shop, that’s fine…we’ll see what the jury thinks. And as far as I’m concerned, if you want to charge every gun owning pot smoker out there…have at it.

I’m not one of those out there demanding “common sense gun control” then quibling about about what that actually means when my favored president’s crackhead son gets caught up in it.

P.S. here’s the statement thats causing baby boy biden his problems:

“Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized
for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.”

It’s an interesting problem! I am fairly sure there are posters on this very forum who partake and own weapons. And they seem like responsible people! And there are probably millions of Americans who partake in pot and own a weapon or two. Are they going to prosecute all of them?

Trey Gowdy, who is no Liberal, was a former Prosecutor and he just doesn’t understand how Hunter is being Prosecuted. First time offender, non-violent crime, confessed to doing it and was willing to go into a diversion program. To him, it seemed like this is all Kabuki to placate the hard right and Trump.

And this is “Mr. Lets have a 7th Benghazi investigation”. If he thinks this is excessive, that is saying something.

I haven’t read anyone complaining that Hunter is in court. Maybe I missed a post.

In all honesty, whether it’s someone smoking pot, or Hunter smoking crack…I really don’t care about them owning a gun. As far as I’m personally concerned, they can have at it. As long as they don’t hurt anyone else. I didn’t write the rules, I certainly don’t agree with most of them, but I follow them. If Hunter is found not guilty, or gets locked up for a decade, it has no effect on me. The only thing that annoys me about this issue are those who demand more gun control regulations getting all grouchy when they are applied to the wrong person.

Trey Gowdy can think what he wants, clearly the prosecutor in this case doesn’t agree.
