How to SAVE S.S. and reduce the debt. My brilliant plan

First. Full disclosure. I don’t vote based on the debt. Why? Because I have not seen a politician in decades who is serious about cutting it. So why bother? But if I were king.

I would freeze all federal hiring. I would tell every agency to submit a budget that’s 5 percent less than the year before. They no doubt can come up with 5 percent waste. Then I would eliminate all non-essential spending such as NPR and NEA. I would do it by the hundreds. I would not increase any budget for my entire term except for critical military spending. Lastly. It would be law that any cut in S.S. must be accompanied by an equal cut in federal pensions. Eventually I would eliminate federal pensions all together. Let them retire on S.S. and 401k like everyone else.

Before you go wild libs and say that cutting nothing is better than doing this, remember, this is only a start.

Like I said. It’s basically a fantasy. Your politicians are addicted to debt. They lie when they say otherwise.

Focus on cutting military spending. You’ll make the most impact on overall spending there. Cutting something like NPR is like taking a tablespoon of water out of a lake.

SS is likely to get worse as time goes on but taken as a 2024 snapshot:

  • For 2024, the total Social Security expenditures are projected to be approximately $1.3 trillion.
  • For 2024, the total Social Security cash flow deficit is projected to be $169b.

So, for 2024,
SS would be brought into balance by reducing all payments by 13% or eliminating all payments to the top ~13% (etc.)

Bull crap. The liberal philosophy that we have thousands of items that are too small to cut is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. This is exactly why I believe libs lie when they say they care about the debt. So basically, you’re saying if we can’t cut the military, let’s not cut anything. Really stupid plan.

Why so angry? My comment was about making the most impact on dept reduction and spending. Focus on military. If programs, big or small, are bad and ineffective, yes, get rid of them.

All those little things are pork, barrels and barrels of pork.

Incorrect. Your comment was opposing any non-military cuts. You provided no argument to save thousands of non-critical small ticket items that are costing billions. I’m convinced it’s because you really don’t want to reduce the debt at all. You people lie.

The military serves a purpose, npr doesn’t. Taking several little bites out of the problem would likely have less negative impact.

Well you were right that focusing on NPR etc. is teaspoon stuff.
But after that you fell off the logic bandwagon and onto the ideology one.

Let’s take a look the facts first and then make a decision. Sound good?

Exactly. If we can’t agree to cut the military, then we shouldn’t cut anything. That is simply a retarded argument.

The other reality is that any savings from military cuts would just be repurposed into more social spending and pork.

What do we do about the massive unemployment these cuts will create?

Amazing

All cuts would be repurposed.

Here it is with the deficit (green line) added in.
We could eliminate all military spending and the deficit would still be pretty substantial.

Certainly Donald Trumps plan to make europe pay its full share of NATO expenses would be a good start, but balancing the budget will require a lot of cuts to transfer payments.

Now do before and since the covid chart. That’s a terrible comparison.

There is plenty to cut from the military, but you don’t start cuts with items that serve a purpose or can have a negative effect. Start with the crap we don’t need and qork from there.

:joy:. You mean the Obama plan. Much like Biden keeping Trumps policies that one was Obama.
