Well played

Finding comman threads in the lousy behavior of Donald and St. Peter does not by default grant the good qualities of the latter to the former.

Note I said that there are qualities in both that remind me of the other. Qualities (all qualities) can be used in both positive and negative ways. For example, Captain Kirk can boldly go where no one has gone before, while Al Capone can boldly execute crimes. And, no, I am not comparing Saint Peter to Captain Kirk, and I am definitely not comparing President Trump to Al Capone (although I thought that might make you smile). I’m just endeavoring to clarify my point about two very different people can possess similar qualities.

I understand your point, but it makes about as much sense in the broader context of this discussion as saying Donald reminds me of Judas Iscariot because hey, they both like money and betray people for personal gain.

Excellent!

Boy, are you really going to hate 2020…

Has what?? Be specific here.

How could any God-fearing patriot not hate it? Regardless of what human being sits in the Oval Office, Satan controls the process.

No, God is in control. He just allows us to make foolish decisions, even if those decisions lead us to our own destruction.

That is a contradictory statement.

He has provided proof of His existence and power which is certainly a coercive force to believe. Talking donkeys, talking snakes, pillars of fire, parting of seas, global floods, healing of cripples, curing diseases, stopping the earth’s rotation. I think you get the point.

People are wondering why Christians don’t condemn President Trump. This morning the readings at Mass covered how God places our transgressions as far from us as the east is from the west. What is past is past, and each day is a new day to begin again. This opposed to throwing the worst moments in another’s face day after day, never seeing any good in them. President Trump is trying to do good for this nation. What is so terrible about an imperfect man striving to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty?

Because he’s not doing any of those things so much as obsessively lying, enriching himself on the taxpayer’s dime, engaging in cronyism, pallin’ around with murderous dictators, and childishly insulting anyone who disagrees with him.

There were COUNTLESS people who witnessed either miracles or acts of wrath. Saw them firsthand and still didn’t believe. That’s the point. You may believe or not, even if you’re own eyes see it. No coercion and your disbelief is proof there still isn’t any.

There is nothing contradictory. God either CAUSES something to happen, or ALLOWS something to happen. Both are forms of his will. He allows us to reject him and he also allows us to suffer whatever the consequences may be.

It is contradictory.

It is the philosophical problem with an omnipotent and omniscient deity.

God created everything and is responsible for everything because the Alpha and Omega knows everything that has been and will be.

Free will is meaningless in this situation.

So we wouldn’t be able to “choose” anything since the choice is already known.

Disagree. True, I could do without the name calling and insults, but he is not ‘pallin’ or engaging in cronyism. That is part of the job he has taken on.

Yes, people witness what they think are miracles. Why are the “big” miracles relegated to ancient times?

Why has he never healed an amputee?

I don’t think I would go that far with Trump being saintly. He reminds me more of a white Don King.

Bunk. He is demonstrably immoral and ill suited to lead.
