Aside from that, South Dakota was the first state to adopt initiative direct democracy, on a statewide level, and its leading advocate was a socialist named Walter E. Kidd, publisher of the Dakota Ruralist during the late 1800s, which declared on its front page a motto "Socialism in Our Time.”

Make no mistake, socialists have been very active for a very long time, and one of their evil doings was the 16th Amendment, and handing to government one of the most evil forms of taxation.

No it isn’t. Look at Michigan and Wisconsin for the GOP, New York for the Dems. The elite stay in power because they draw the lines. Voters are helpless in states with extreme gerrymandering.

In Michigan, GOP is using our petition laws to repeal the law the Governor is using to rule the state with emergency powers. If the petition process didn’t exist, they would be helpless.

These are checks against the powerful.

A constitution is a framework that lays out the rules on how a government will work. Laws are where government actions occur, and I don’t know what state you live in, but there are laws passed all the time.

My state has reserved the power of governance to the people. There are three ways to petition the government, referendum, ballot proposals, and constitutional amendments.

It kind of goes a little beyond that.

In any event, while Florida’s State Constitution forbids an income tax, Alaska’s State Constitution permits it, the Alaska Legislature has just never chosen to enact an income tax.

My opposition to the Alabama Constitution boils down to the fact that it is a complete cluster ■■■■■ both the main Constitution and all 946 Amendments. With up to another 6 Amendments to be added in November.

But, this is a subject for another thread, so I won’t delve into the matter beyond that.
